Lenten Series
A Lenten Series like no other was offered recently. It was a workshop on finally putting together your desires for your funeral/memorial service. The class was both a look at the theology included in the liturgy, as well as a chance to review the various suggested readings and even to SING some of the hymns to see if you like them. It was meant to be a joyful romp embracing the hope of resurrection that is the foundation of our faith, and a discussion about what you want remembered for yourself.
RISE
RISE food distributions happen on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month.
CTK is often engaged in sharing our resources with others. That means making a donation of $5.00 on Sunday will help in the purchase of food for distribution, or contributing one pound bags of rice and/or beans to share. We also collect diapers, wipes, and baby clothes for the Mother/Baby program.
Pastoral Concerns
In addition to offering the laying on of hands for healing once a month, CTK is actively engaged in praying for each other and concerns of the community. Facebook updates urgent needs, and shepherds in the church can be alerted in the case of sustained prayer needs.
Formation
Recent Formation activities included a 3-part workshop: What?! You mean I’m going to die. A chance to plan your own celebration of life and a closer look at the theology of the burial service as well as a review of suggested readings and hymns.
Story and Wonder
Story and Wonder is a weekly dive into a short children’s book, followed by a discussion of the themes and their relevance to our lives. No stuffy background required, just a willingness to explore and enjoy and make new connections.
Bible Study
In-person Bible Study on Wednesday morning examines the Scriptures for the upcoming Sunday, and uses resources to engage with the stories in a fresh way. There is a strong emphasis on the ways Scriptures inform and makes sense of our experience
