A Note from the Priest

I am delighted to be one of the first people to welcome you to Christ the King, a place of diversity, faithfulness and joy. The people of God called to be a family at Christ the King come from all parts of Baltimore, all parts of Maryland, and all parts of the world (from Woodlawn to Westminster, from Nigeria, Liberia, and the Dominican Republic and more). We are truly diverse in our backgrounds, ages, and places in our faith journey, but we are united by our love of God and the presence of the Holy Spirit working in our lives and this community.

The center of our time together is Sunday Rite II worship at 10am when people of all ages participate, and if little ones need a change of pace we have a great nursery. A choir sings from September through June, and we are a singing congregation. We have education opportunities for all ages, especially Sunday School from Fall through Spring. We have a Eucharist with healing service every Wednesday at 9:30am.

Currently I am excited as we continue to celebrate 50 years of being a congregation and look to the future. We are having special events through the year to help us remember all those faithful people who have led the way, and to raise up new leadership. I enjoy spending time with our Youth Group which is small but mighty, we often join with Abiding Savior Lutheran for events like a weekend retreat, pool parties, ropes courses. We are planning the first Women's Retreat in October. We just completed a labyrinth with stepping stones created by members of the congregation. We recently hosted an outdoor movie event just for fun for the community.

We take seriously our call to care for our neighbors and provide and visit Manor Care nursing home three times a month, and we prepare a meal for the local shelter once a month. We also are extraordinary in caring for people when they are at difficult times in their life, supporting with prayers and meals.

Christ the King is unique; our buildings are blue and our people diverse. Come join us for worship, and come as you are. If there is anything I can do to help you feel welcome or find a ministry, please don't hesitate to contact me.

God's Peace,
Mary Eliot, Rector
